나무 국제예술문화기획의 대표이자 사진작가로도 활동 중인 제니 성 작가의 <여섯 번째 사진이야기>가 12월 9일부터 서울 혜화아트센타에서 5일간 전시하게 된다.

혜화아트센타측은 “제니 성 작가는 나이 열다섯에 TV를 통해 처음 아프리카 아이들을 보게 되었고 그들의 열악한 환경을 보며 혹시 그 아이와 자신이 바뀌어서 태어났을지도 모른다는 생각에 미안한 마음이 들게 되었다. 나중에 어른이 되면 아프리카 아이를 돕겠다는 막연한 결심을 하게 되었다고 한다. 그 후, 고등학교 때부터 아프리카 구호활동을 시작했다. 수입이 생기기 시작한 28세부터 지금까지 후원금을 보냈다. 그녀는 올해 7월. 말라위라는 세계 최극빈국을 가게 되었다. 그곳에서 만난 아이들과 생소한 그곳의 현실들을 렌즈에 담아 와 이번 전시의 주제로 갖게 되었다 한다”고 알리고 “홍익대학교 공예과에 입학하였으나 1년 후에 바로 미국으로 유학을 가게 되었다. 미국의 U.I.C(일리노이주립대)로 미디어아트를 전공하고 졸업 후 광고기획사에서도 오랜 경력을 갖고 있었다. 그녀의 마음속에서는 늘 세상에 하고픈 메시지들을 예술로 전달할 수 있는 기회를 찾았다. 그것이 사진이라는 매체였다. 그녀는 여느 사진들과 다른 형태의 작업을 내놓아 관련전문가들의 주목을 받고 있다”고 소개했다.
혜화아트센타측은 “일부러 일반 DSLR카메라가 아닌 스마트폰으로 촬영을 한다던지 합성이나 편집으로 이색적인 구성의 작품들을 창작해내는데 여기에는 그녀만의 뚜렷한 메시지들이 담겨있어서 시장에서는 그런 메시지들을 눈여겨 볼 것”을 추천했다.
특히, 제니 성 작가의 사진 전시는 항상 전 수익금을 기아 후원단체나 장애우 협력재단 등에 기부하는 것으로 알려져 있다.

5-day exhibition at Hyehwa Art Center in Seoul...Visit to Malawi, capture the unfamiliar realities of the place through the lens

<The 6th Photo Story> by Jenny Seong, representative of Namu International Arts and Culture Planning and also active as a photographer, will be exhibited for 5 days from December 9th at Hyehwa Art Center in Seoul.
Hyehwa Art Center said, “Artist Jenny Seong saw African children for the first time on TV at the age of 15, and seeing their poor environment made her feel sorry for the child and herself, thinking that they might have been born interchangeably. It is said that later, when he became an adult, he made a vague decision to help African children. After that, he started doing relief work in Africa from high school. He has been sending donations since he was 28 when he started generating income. in July of this year. Malawi is one of the poorest countries in the world. She said that she took the children she met there and the unfamiliar realities of the place through her lens and became the subject of this exhibition.” She majored in Media Arts at U.I.C (Illinois State University) in the United States. After she graduated, she had a long career in an advertising agency. In her heart, she always found an opportunity to convey the messages she wanted to say to the world through art. It was the medium of photography. She is attracting attention from related experts by presenting a type of work that is different from other photos.”
Hyehwa Art Center said, “She deliberately shoots with a smartphone rather than a general DSLR camera, or creates works with a unique composition through synthesis or editing. Recommended.
In particular, it is known that all proceeds from her exhibitions are always donated to hunger support groups or the Foundation for the Disabled.
