창원특례시, ‘지방의 국제화 우수사례 공모전’ 수상

[브레이크뉴스=이성용 기자] 창원특례시는 대한민국 시·도지사협의회가 주최한 ‘2022 지방의 국제화 우수사례 공모전’에서 장려상인 시·도지사협의회장상을 수상했다고 12일 밝혔다.

이번 공모전은 전국 243개 지방자치단체를 대상으로 지자체의 국제화 우수사례를 발굴·시상하고, 이를 통해 지자체 상호간 벤치마킹의 기회를 제공하기 위해 대한민국 시·도지사협의회가 매년 개최하는 행사다.

창원시는 ‘블루밍 레인보우(Blooming Rainbow), 아동그림 교류전시회’를 주제로 창원과 미국 볼티모어시 간 교류 활동을 우수사례로 제출해 심사위원들의 큰 호응을 얻었다.

창원특례시는 16개국 36개 세계도시와 교류 네트워크를 구축하고 있으며, 해외도시 교류·협력 확대를 통한 ‘글로벌 중추도시’ 실현을 목표로 실질적이고 다각적인 국제협력을 선도적으로 추진하고 있다.

‘블루밍 레인보우’는 ‘꽃피우는 무지개’라는 뜻으로, 아이들의 자유로운 꿈과 개성이 무지개처럼 피어나길 바란다는 의미가 담겨있다. 창원-볼티모어 간 동시 전시오프닝에 참석하게 하는 등 아이들에게 다양한 문화 프로그램의 체험 기회를 주었다.
