‘줄기세포 시술’하면 일반적으로 그 과정이 복잡하다고 생각한다. 그러나 의외로 간단하다. 대부분 시술한 후에 ‘뭐가 이렇게 간단하냐?’고 반문한다.
지방줄기세포 시술은 지방을 채취하여 순수 줄기세포를 분리/추출 후 필요한 부위에 주입하는 시술이다. 시술과정은 다음과 같다.
복부지방을 주사기로 채취하는데 30분 정도 소요된다. 채취한 지방은 줄기세포 전문기관으로 보내져 줄기세포를 분리/추출하는데 4~5시간 정도 소요된다. 추출한 줄기세포를 시술할 부위에 주입하는 시간은 10~20분 정도 소요된다.
보통 오전 10시에 지방을 빼고 줄기세포 회사에 보내면 오후 5시쯤 줄기세포를 받고 이식할 수 있다. 하루면 모든 시술을 마칠 수 있다. 또는 당일 뽑아서 다음날 시술하기도 한다.
지방을 뺀 후에 환자, 아니 환자라는 표현보다 고객이라는 표현이 더 정확할 것 같다. 대부분 줄기세포 시술을 받는 분들은 환자라고 하면 싫어한다. 지방을 빼는데, 빼고 난후에도 별로 통증도 없고, 시술도 간편하니 고객 입장에는 ‘뭐가 이리 간단해?’라는 말도 할만도 하다.

둘째, 지방줄기세포는 지방흡입을 통해 지방 100cc를 채취하면 200 만개에서 1,000만개의 줄기세포를 추출할 수 있다. 이 과정은 줄기세포 시술에서 중요한 포인트가 된다. 왜냐하면 줄기세포를 분리하는데 기술력에 따라 추출하는 양이 달라지기 때문이다. 또한 줄기세포가 오염이 돼서는 안 된다.
