세종시의회가 안전체험교육 강화를 위해 협업에 나섰다.
세종시의회 김효숙 의원(교육안전위원회, 나성동)은 지난 25일 오전 시의회 의원실에서 ‘세종특별자치시 교육청 안전체험교육원 관리 및 운영 조례안 제정’을 위한 유관기관 간담회를 가졌다.
지난 2021년 10월 문을 연 안전체험교육원은 세종시교육청 산하 기관으로 관내 유치원생 및 초·중·고교 학생, 교직원 등을 대상으로 안전과 관련한 다양한 프로그램을 운영하고 있다.
하지만 세종시가 관리하고 감독하는 공·사립 어린이집이 이용 대상에서 제외되면서 관련 민원이 꾸준히 제기됐고, 세종시와 교육청간 협의의 필요성이 대두됐다.
김효숙 의원은 “지난 10. 29 이태원참사 이후 체험 교육 강화 등 안전에 대한 지자체의 역할과 책임에 대한 시민들의 요구가 커졌다”며 “하지만 관내 안전과 관련해 종합하여 체험할 수 있는 시설은 교육청 안전체험교육원이 유일했고, 이용 대상의 확대를 위한 양 기관의 적극적인 협의가 필요했다”고 주장했다.
김 의원은 “그동안 세종시와 교육청은 공·사립어린이집에 다니는 만 7세도 안전체험교육원을 이용할 수 있도록 협의했고, 저 역시 관련 내용이 담긴 운영조례를 준비했다”며 “세종시교육청은 운영 시간 및 인력 배치 조정을, 세종시는 어린이집 아동이 시설 이용 시 시민안전강사를 배치하는 등 인력을 지원할 계획”이라고 말했다.
조례가 제정되면 올해부터 순차적으로 지역 내 어린이집 1,773명의 만7세 아동이 안전체험교육원에서 보다 다양한 안전 교육을 받게될 것으로 보인다.
김 의원은 “안전에 대한 중요성은 아무리 강조해도 지나치지 않는다”며 “앞으로도 더 많은 시민이 다양한 체험 교육을 통해 안전체감도를 높일 수 있도록 노력하겠다”고 말했다.
한편, 관련 조례는 5월 22일부터 6월 27일까지 진행되는 제83회 제1차 정례회에서 심의될 예정이다.
