【브레이크뉴스 경북】박희경 기자=경북문화재단 콘텐츠진흥원(원장 이종수, 이하 진흥원)이 운영하는 경북웹툰캠퍼스(이하 캠퍼스)는 오는 7월까지 캠퍼스 전시홀에서 ‘상반기 전시 작가 공모’ 선정 작가 3인의 개인전을 개최한다고 8일 밝혔다.

지난해 진행한 ‘경북 작가 기획전’의 후속으로 마련된 이 전시는‘2023 경북웹툰캠퍼스 상반기 전시 작가 공모’를 통하여 선정된 경북지역 작가 3인의 작품들을 선보인다. 5월로우작가의 ‘나의 시선, 너의 눈빛 : 포항을 바라보는 캐릭터들’을 시작으로 6월과 7월에는 결 작가, 이경석 작가의 개인전이각각 이어질 예정이다.
첫 주인공은 로우 작가로 포항의 이모저모를 담은 작품과 이를활용한 여러 굿즈를 통해 지역의 매력을 널리 알리는 데 힘쓰고 있다. 포항의시조(市鳥) 갈매기를 형상화한 아기자기한 캐릭터를 비롯, 호미곶과형산강 등자연경관과 사랑스러운 캐릭터가 한데 어우러진 일러스트를선보이며 많은 이들에게 사랑받고 있다.
이번 전시에는 ▲캐릭터 일러스트 20점 ▲회화 작품 10점 ▲관련 영상 2편 등총 30점의 작품과 2개의 영상이 관람객을 맞이한다. 또한 캐릭터를 활용한 포토존으로 관람객의 시선을 사로잡을 예정이다.
로우 작가전은 5월 31일까지 공휴일을 제외한 평일 오전 9시부터 오후6시까지 캠퍼스 1층 전시홀에서 누구나 무료로 관람할 수 있다.
또한 지난해 3월 개소 이후 개관 1년을 맞은 캠퍼스는 수준별 교육 프로그램과레지던시형 창작 공간 운영을 비롯한 지원 사업을 통해 지역 웹툰 거점으로거듭나고 있다. 이전 ‘경북 작가 기획전’으로 지역 작가 홍보는 물론관람객들의 많은 성원을 얻은 바 있어, 이번 전시 역시 그 귀추가 주목된다.
이종수 진흥원장은 “지난해 많은 호응을 얻었던 ‘경북 작가 기획전’이 새로운지역 작가들과 함께 웹툰팬들을 반길 것”이라며, “전시와 캠퍼스에서 진행될 교육 프로그램및 지원 사업에도 많은 관심을 부탁드린다”고 전했다.

Gyeongbuk webtoon writers’ solo exhibition held one after another

Starting with Lowe’s ‘My Eyes, Your Eyes: Characters Looking at Pohang’ in May, solo exhibitions by Gyeol and Lee Kyung-seok will be held in June and July, respectively.
The first protagonist is a writer Lowe, who is working hard to publicize the charm of the region through works containing various aspects of Pohang and various goods using it. It is loved by many people by showing cute characters that embody the seagull, the progenitor of Pohang, as well as illustrations that harmonize natural scenery and lovely characters such as Homigot and Hyeongsan River.
In this exhibition, a total of 30 works and 2 videos, including ▲20 character illustrations ▲10 paintings ▲2 related videos, greet visitors. In addition, a photo zone using characters will catch the attention of visitors.
The low exhibition is open to anyone for free at the exhibition hall on the 1st floor of the campus from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm on weekdays, excluding public holidays, until May 31.
In addition, the campus, which has been open for one year since its opening in March last year, is being reborn as a local webtoon base through support projects including level-specific education programs and the operation of residency-type creative spaces. The previous ‘Gyeongbuk Artists’ Exhibition’ not only promoted local artists but also gained a lot of support from visitors, so this exhibition is also noteworthy.
Lee Jong-soo, head of the Promotion Institute, said, "The 'Gyeongbuk Writers' Exhibition', which received a lot of response last year, will welcome webtoon fans together with new local writers."
