[브레이크뉴스=양영석 기자] 통영시는 아열대과수 재배시설내 온·습도 조절로 과실 비대 관리 및 착색을 증가시켜 전년보다 2주 이상 앞당겨 본격적으로 애플망고를 출하한다고 밝혔다.

기후변화에 대응해 아열대 과수를 육성하고 지역특화품목으로 자리매김한 통영산 애플망고는 2011년부터 시험재배를 시작해 이제는 지역농가의 새로운 고소득 작목으로 성장해 소비자들로 부터 꾸준한 인기를 얻고 있다.

통영산 애플망고 완숙과는 당도가 최고 23브릭스에 달하며 향과 맛이 일품으로 상품 1㎏에 5만원 까지 거래되어 지역특화 소득 작목 구실을 톡톡히 하고 있을 뿐만 아니라 과실 적과기의 어린 청과도 샐러드로 먹는 새콤한 맛을 선호하는 국내 거주 베트남 등 동남아시아인 에게 주로 판매해 틈새시장을 활용한 부가소득을 창출하고 있다.
