26일 동국대 WISE캠퍼스에 따르면 이번 발전기금은 올해 입학 30주년을 맞은 동국대 WISE캠퍼스 조경·정원디자인학부 93학번 동문들과 입학 40주년이 되는 83학번 동문들이 모교와 성실하게 학업에 임하고 있는 후배들을 응원하고 학과의 발전을 위해 뜻을 모아 조성했다.
김지성 조경·정원디자인학부 93학번 대표는 ”후배들이 조경학과의 자부심을 가지고 학업에 정진하기를 바라는 마음으로 학과발전기금을 전달하게 되었다“고 소감을 밝혔다.
권태웅 조경·정원디자인학부 83학번 대표는 ”동국대 WISE캠퍼스 조경학과는 전국에서 가장 많은 조경 기술자를 배출한 학과로서 그 명성을 유지하고 있다.“며 ”입학 40주년을 맞이한 우리 83학번들은 후배들이 이러한 자부심을 가지고 조경학과의 전통을 이어 나갈 수 있도록 지원하기 위해 이번 발전기금을 전달하게 되었다.“며 소감을 밝혔다.
이영경 동국대 WISE캠퍼스총장은 “후배와 모교의 발전을 위해 소중한 정성을 모아준 조경·정원디자인학부 93학번과 83학번에 진심으로 고맙고 자랑스럽게 생각한다”라며 “모교도 혁신과 도약으로 미래 가치를 창출하는 창의융합 선도대학으로 거듭날 수 있도록 노력하겠다.”라고 말했다.
한편 동국대 WISE캠퍼스 조경·정원디자인학부는 1974년 12월 전국에서 4번째로 서울캠퍼스 농림대학에 신설되었으며, 1980년 3월 WISE캠퍼스로 이동하여 동국대 조경·정원디자인학부의 전통과 명성을 이어가고 있다. 또한 선후배 간의 끈끈한 유대감을 바탕으로 2010년 30주년을 맞은 80학번부터 매년 입학 30주년이 되는 동문이 후배들을 위한 장학 기금을 전달하고 있다.
조경·정원디자인학부는 2010년부터 1기 졸업생인 80학번을 시작으로 2022년 92학번까지 총 1억7천3백만 원의 발전기금을 기탁했다.
