산사태 대책 상황실은 평상시에는 기상 상황 파악과 예방 활동을 실시하고, 집중호우·태풍 등으로 산사태 위기 경보 및 기상특보 발령 시에는 상황이 종료될 때까지 24시간 비상근무 체계로 전환해 대응을 강화한다.
이번 조치는 위기경보별 근무조를 편성해 산사태 예방과 대응에 총괄 지휘하고 유관기관 간 협업체계를 구축해 시민들의 인명·재산 피해를 최소화하기 위해 마련됐다.
앞서 시는 산사태현장예방단을 운영하고 산사태취약지역 444곳의 점검 및 응급복구를 시행한 바 있다.
이밖에도 시는 산사태 홍보 소책자를 제작해 산사태취약지역 인접 거주민 및 각 읍면동 행정복지센터에 배포하는 등 주민 대상 산사태 대응 요령 홍보에도 행정력을 집중하고 있다.
한편 시는 지난 4월 2023년도 산사태예방종합대책을 수립해 산사태 취약 지역에 대한 관리를 강화한 바 있다.
주낙영 경주시장은 “올여름 많은 비가 예상되는 만큼 철저한 대비가 필요하다”라며 “신고 폭주, 동시다발 출동과 같은 최악의 상황을 가정해 빈틈없는 안전대책을 추진하는 등 시민 안전 확보에 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
