26일 동국대 WISE캠퍼스에 따르면 스님은 마지막 회향을 앞두고 평소 근검절약하여 모은 소중한 정재를 “불교인재 양성과 불교종립대학인 동국대 WISE캠퍼스의 발전을 바라는 마음으로 기부를 하게 되었다“며 ”불교인재 양성을 위해 힘쓰는 동국대 WISE캠퍼스에 작은 도움이라도 되고 싶다”고 말했다.
코로나19 및 세계적인 경제위기로 어려움을 겪고 있는 가운데서도 불교인재 양성과 불교종립대학 동국대 WISE캠퍼스 발전을 바라는 스님과 불자들의 기부가 이어지고 있다.
지난 14일에도 익명의 노스님이 동국대 WISE캠퍼스 발전기금으로 1억 원을 기부했다.
이영경 동국대 WISE캠퍼스총장은 “스님과의 소중한 인연으로 동국대 WISE캠퍼스에 기부해 주신 것에 대해 감사드리고, 스님들과 불자들께서 기부해 주시는 소중한 정재가 큰 힘이 되고 있다”며 “소중한 정재를 학생들을 위해 마음 내어주셔서 깊이 감사드리고 지혜와 자비 정신을 갖춘 불교인재 양성을 위해 최선의 노력을 다하겠다.”고 감사의 뜻을 전했다.
한편, 동국대 WISE캠퍼스는 기부금을 스님의 뜻에 따라 어려운 가정형편에서도 열심히 공부하는 학생들을 위한 인재육성 장학금과 건학이념 구현을 위해 사용할 계획이다.
