안전문화 사회공헌활동 업무협약에는 행정안전부를 포함한 총 24개 기관이 참여한다.
이번 협약으로 공단은 방폐물관리기관으로서의 전문성을 활용해 방사선측정 및 교육 서비스, 지역주민 건강검진 지원, 취약계층 소방설비 지원, 어린이 안전일기 쓰기, 안전문화 캠페인 등의 다양한 안전문화 사회공헌활동을 펼치게 된다.
공단은 행정안전부가 주관한 2022년 안전문화대상 수상기관 자격으로 이번 협약에 참여했다.
조성돈 한국원자력환경공단 이사장은 “방사성폐기물의 안전하고 효율적인 관리를 기본으로 국민과 지역사회가 안심하고 신뢰할 수 있도록 안전문화 조성과 확산에 앞장서겠다”고 밝혔다.
한편 한국원자력환경공단은 지난 2019년 방사선측정 서비스를 시작으로 방사선측정 및 교육 서비스, 화재취약가구 대상 소방설비 지원, 지역주민 건강검진 지원 등 지역사회 안전문화 사회공헌활동을 지속해오고 있다.
