브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 오늘부터 대한민국 전 국민은 한두 살 어려진다.
28일부터 법적, 사회적 나이를 '만(滿) 나이'로 통일하는 내용의 개정 행정기본법과 민법이 시행되기 때문이다.
만 나이는 윤석열 대통령의 대선 공약 중 하나로, 나이 계산법이 달라 발생하는 사회적·행정적 혼선 및 분쟁을 해소하기 위해 시행하기로 결정했다.
이에 따라 만 나이는 올해 연도에서 태어난 연도를 뺀 나이가 적용된다. 생일이 지나면 1살, 생일이 지나지 않았다면 2살이 어려진다.
다만, 취학연령과 주류·담배 구매, 병역 의무, 공무원 시험 응시 기준 등에는 만 나이를 적용하지 않는다.
이와 관련 이완규 법제처장은 "취학연령이나 병역법의 경우 만 나이로 변경을 해도 전혀 문제가 없다고 판단되면 만 나이로 정리할 계획"이라고 밝혔다.
