경주시, 형산강에 동남참게·은어·잉어 8만 마리 방류

30일 시에 따르면 이날 방류행사에는 형산강 살리기 봉사회와 내수면 어업협회 회원들이 동참했다.

이번에 방류된 동남참게, 은어, 잉어는 지난 4월에 부화한 건강한 치어로 방류 전 경상북도어업기술원에서 전염병검사를 완료했다.

동남참게는 동남쪽 하천에 주로 서식하면서 가을철 번식을 위해 바다로 이동해 하구 근처에서 교미하고, 부화한 새끼는 다시 하천으로 올라가 자라는 회귀성 어종이다.

은어는 가을에 수정, 부화하여 바다로 갔다가 육지와 가까운 곳에서 겨울을 보내고 이듬해 하천으로 거슬러 올라와 하천 상류에서 서식하는 단년생 어종으로 바다에 회귀하지 못해 하천 등에서 부화된 일명 “육봉은어”도 많은 것으로 알려져 있다.

윤창호 경주시 해양수산과장은 “이번 방류를 통해 경주와 포항의 생명 근원지인 형산강을 중심으로 문화와 경제의 지속적인 발전은 물론 두 지역의 상생협력을 도모하는 화합의 장이 됐으면 한다”고 밝혔다.
