군에 따르면 운영 기간은 7월14일부터8월20일까지총 38일간이며,성수기는7월 22일부터 8월 6일까지 오전 9시에서 오후 7시 30분, 비수기는7월 14일부터 7월 21일과8월 7일부터 8월 20일 오전 9시에서 오후 6시까지다.
특히, 해수욕장 개장과 함께 고래불비치사커대회(8월 5~6일), 장사해변라디오(개장기간 중 주말), 여름해변축제 등 다채로운 행사가 펼쳐져 풍성한 볼거리와 먹을거리, 그리고 즐길거리를 제공해 관광객들에게 한여름의 추억을 선사하게 된다.
영덕군은 올해의 경우 사회적 거리두기 해제로 코로나19 이전 수준의 피서객이 찾을 것으로 내다보고, 쾌적하고 안전한 피서지 환경을 조성하기 위해 안전관리를 최우선으로 하고 관계기관과의 협조를 통해 관내 7개 해수욕장에 수상인명구조요원 125명을 투입할 계획이다.
또한 수상인명구조요원을 대상으로 해양경찰과 합동으로 수상안전훈련을 시행하고, 인명사고 예방을 위해 근무자를 대상으로 철저한 안전관리 교육을 진행할 예정이다.
김동희 부군수는 “지역을 찾아오신 피서객들에게 안전하고 쾌적한 해수욕장을 제공할 수 있도록 관계기관과 함께 적극적으로 노력을 기울이고, 지역 경제를 활성화하는 데도 최선을 다하겠다”고 밝혔다.
