이날 이철우 의장, 이동협 부의장을 비롯한 시의원들은 황성공원 충혼탑에 헌화와 분향을 하면서 순국선열과 호국영령의 넋을 기렸다.
참배 후 의회는 의장과 상임위원회별로 복지시설을 찾아 이웃사랑의 시간을 가졌다.
이철우 의장은 청우노인재가복지센터를, 행정복지위원회는(위원장 임활)예티주간보호센터를, 문화도시위원회는(위원장 이진락)는 희망터 지역아동센터를, 경제산업위원회(위원장 이락우)는 대자원을 방문했다.
의원들은 복지시설 관계자로부터 운영 현황과 애로사항을 듣고 입소자들이 건강하고 행복하게 생활할 수 있도록 보살펴 주는 관계자들에게 감사의 마음을 전했으며, 입소자들에게는 위문품을 전달하며 이웃과 따뜻한 정을 나누는 뜻깊은 시간을 보냈다.
이철우 의장은 “지난 1년간 시민과 함께하는 의회 구현을 위해 현장 중심의 의정활동을 펼쳐왔고, 2년차도 시민 삶의 질을 높이고 시민 모두가 행복한 경주를 만들어 가는 데 최선을 다하겠다”고 다짐했다.
