브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 원희룡 국토교통부 장관은 지난 6일 서울-양평 고속도로 사업 ‘전면 백지화’를 결정한 것과 관련, 독자적인 결정이며 인사 책임까지도 각오하고 있다고 밝혔다.
원희룡 장관은 7일 CBS라디오 ‘김현정의 뉴스쇼’에서 '윤석열 대통령의 대선 공약이기도 한데, 대통령과 논의된 사안인가'라는 진행자의 질문에 "아니다"라며 "장관의 독자적인 결정인가'라는 되묻자 "물론이다"라고 답했다.
원 장관은 다만 국민의힘과는 논의 후 발표된 것이라고 했다. 그는 "불가피한 고육책이었기 때문에 공개적으로 발언한 게 전격적인 발표로 들렸을 수는 있는데, 어떻게 당하고 한마디 얘기도 안 하고 그렇게 했겠느냐"고 설명했다.
이어 "처음에는 김건희 여사 땅이 문제되는 것만 배제할까도 생각했는데, 민주당이 건수를 물었다며 태스크포스를 만들고 제게 '의혹을 덮으려고 타협한다'고 제기를 했다"면서 "결국 무조건 김 여사를 물고 들어가려는 것이라고 판단해 김 여사가 거론될 필요가 없는 시점으로 깔끔하게 하기로 결정한 것"이라고 말했다.
원 장관은 "대통령을 흠집내기 위해 김건희 여사를 계속 물고 들어가는 민주당의 날파리 선동 프레임"이라고 거듭 비판하며 "대통령이 인사권의 책임을 묻는다면 저는 다 각오를 하고 고뇌 끝에 결단을 내린 것"이라고 했다.
진행자의 '어제 발표 이후 대통령의 연락이 있었느냐'는 질문엔 "아직 아무런 연락이 없었다. 제가 모든 걸 걸고 책임을 지겠다고 했으니 일단 지켜보시는 것 아니겠느냐"고 말했다.
원희룡 장관은 아울러 이재명 민주당 대표를 언급하며 "민주당이 가짜뉴스 선동을 했기 때문에 이재명 대표는 저랑 1대1 토론을 하든지 해서 지금까지의 프레임 선동에 대한 책임을 분명히 해소해야 한다. 민주당이 모든 팩트와 그동안 김건희 여사에 대해 몰고 갔던 가짜뉴스 선동에 대한 해명과 책임지는 사과가 있다면 그때는 저도 (백지화를) 고집할 필요는 없을 것"이라고 했다.
