【브레이크뉴스 경주시】박희경 기자=경주시는 12일 건천운동장 옆 부지에 조성된 실내체육관에서 주낙영 시장, 이동협 시의회 부의장, 시·도의원 및 지역 주민 등 300여 명이 참석한 가운데 ‘서경주 체육공원 준공식’을 개최했다.
경주시에 따르면 이번 사업은 91억 원의 예산을 투입해 1만8877㎡부지에 다목적 실내체육관 1동, 파크골프장 9홀의 체육시설과 중앙광장, 주차장 72면 등의 편의시설을 조성했다.
실내체육관은 연면적 1162㎡로 배드민턴(6면), 탁구, 농구 등 실내 체육활동과 각종 소규모 행사로 활용이 가능하다.
체육관 내부는 눈부심 방지와 밝기 조절이 가능한 스포츠조명을 설치했고, 바닥은 시트형 탄성재를 설치해 충격 흡수성을 높였다.
또 천장고가 높은 대공간의 냉난방을 위해 공조기 2대와 공기순환팬 6대를 설치해 4계절 내내 쾌적한 환경에서 체육활동이 가능하게 했다.
더불어 태양광 발전설비로 자체 전력공급이 가능하며, 우수기에는 지하 저수조에 빗물을 저장해 외부 조경에 활용할 수 있는 빗물 재이용시설도 설치했다.
파크골프장은 5900㎡ 면적에 9홀 코스로 조성했다. 지하수를 이용한 자동 스프링클러를 설치해 천연 잔디 관리의 효율성을 높였다.
경주시는 기존에 운영 중인 36홀 파크골프장 외에도 각 권역별로 총 5개소의 파크골프장 63홀을 신규로 조성 중에 있다. 그 중 오늘 서경주 파크골프장이 가장 먼저 준공을 맞이했다.

주낙영 시장은 “지난 2009년에 조성된 건천운동장에 새로운 생활체육 기능을 더해 오늘 ‘서경주 체육공원’이라는 새로운 이름을 가지게 됐다”며 “축구장, 육상트랙, 족구장, 농구장, 테니스장, 그리고 파크골프장과 실내체육관까지 갖춘 다목적 체육공원에서 서경주 지역 주민들의 체육활동과 여가생활이 더욱 활성화되길 바란다”고 말했다.
