이번 대회는 새롭게 도약을 준비하는 동국대 WISE캠퍼스 설립 45주년을 기념하고 동문들과의 화합을 통해 동창회 활성화와 자긍심 고취를 위해 열렸다.
이날 대회에는 조덕형 동국대학교 직할경주동창회장, 문선배 동국대 총동창회장, 이영경 동국대 WISE캠퍼스총장을 비롯해 전국 각지에서 30개팀 120여명의 동문들이 참석해 친목과 우의를 다졌다.
이어진 시상식에서는 총동창회 산하 (재)동국장학회에서 후배들을 위한 장학금 2천5백만원을 이영경 동국대 WISE캠퍼스총장에게 전달하였다.
대회를 주최한 조덕형 동국대 직할 경주동창회장은 “멈춰 있던 동문들의 화합의 장을 다시 시작할 수 있게되어 기쁘게 생각한다”며, “이번 골프대회를 통해 동국대 직할 경주동창회를 비롯한 모든 동문들이 동창회는 물론 모교 발전을 위해 단합하고 친목하는 자리가 되길 바란다”고 말했다.
이영경 동국대 WISE캠퍼스총장은 “이번 대회가 우애와 결집이 한층 더 성장하는 계기가 되기를 바란다”며, “동문 여러분들과 후배들이 자긍심을 가질 수 있도록 모교도 변화와 혁신으로 도약하여 미래 가치를 창출하는 창의융합 선도대학으로 거듭날 수 있도록 최선을 다 하겠다”고 말했다.
