브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 송영길 더불어민주당 전 대표는 14일 '2021년 전당대회 돈봉투 살포 의혹'과 관련, 검찰의 잇따른 압수수색에 대해 맹비판했다.
송영길 전 대표는 이날 변호인을 통해 발표한 입장문에서 "한동훈 법무부 장관은 증거가 차고 넘친다고 했는데, 왜 아직도 인디언 기우제식 수사를 하고 있는 것인지 묻지 않을 수 없다"면서 "지난 3개월 넘게 먼지 털 듯 털어대고 별건의 별건까지 인간사냥을 하듯 수사를 했지만, 아직도 부족해서 내 주변 사람들을 끊임없이 괴롭히고 있나"라고 지적했다.
이어 그는 "증거가 있으면 기소를 하고, 결정적 증거 하나 발견 못 한 상황이라면 수사를 중단하라"면서 "언제까지 시간만 질질 끌며 투망식 수사, 인간 사냥 같은 인권 유린 수사를 자행하려 하는 것인가"라고 꼬집었다.
한편 서울중앙지검 반부패수사2부(부장검사 김영철)는 이날 송 전 대표의 일정을 담당한 이모 전 비서관의 주거지 등을 압수수색했다.
검찰은 송 전 대표 지지 의원 모임에서 돈 봉투가 살포된 것으로 보고 있는데, 이 전 비서관이 송 전 대표 지지 의원 모임 참석자 관리 등에 관한 기록도 가지고 있을 것으로 보고 압수수색을 단행한 것으로 보인다.
이성만 무소속(당시 민주당) 의원도 2021년 4월 28일 송 전 대표 지지 의원 모임에서 300만원이 든 돈 봉투 1개를 받았다는 혐의도 있다.
검찰은 이에 따라 송 전 대표의 일정 및 송 전 대표에게 보고하기 위해 작성된 자료 등을 추가 확보에 나설 전망이다. 우선 검찰은 이날 압수한 물품들을 분석한 뒤 이 전 비서관을 불러 조사할 계획이다.
이 전 비서관은 송 전 대표를 20년 가까이 보좌해왔다. 송 전 대표가 지난 2008년 초선 의원으로 국회에 입성했을 때부터 행정비서로 근무하며 후원금과 의원실 자금 관리 등을 한 것으로 알려졌다.
