브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 원희룡 국토교통부 장관은 26일 서울-양평 고속도로 사업 백지화 선언과 관련 "사태가 이 지경까지 온 것은 6월 15일 이해찬 전 더불어민주당 대표가 난데없이 특혜 의혹을 민주당 당원 교육인가 그런 자리에서 했고, 그 다음 이재명 대표가 TF까지 만들어가면서 사실상 지시를 했기 때문"이라고 밝혔다.
원희룡 장관은 이날 국회에서 열린 국회 국토교통위원회 전체회의에서 "과연 이게 괴담인지 아닌지도 제가 밝힐 것이고, 사과를 한다면 이 사태를 이렇게 거짓 선동으로 몰고 왔던 민주당 전·현직 대표 두 분부터 사과를 해야 된다고 생각한다"며 이같이 말했다.
최인호 민주당 의원은 이날 현안질의 전 의사진행발언을 통해 "(국토부는) 핵심 자료를 제출하지 않다 갑자기 지난 일요일 자료를 공개했는데 그 과정과 내용이 특혜 의혹을 해소하기는 커녕 특혜 의심을 훨씬 더 키웠다"면서 "대국민 거짓말 자료 공개 쇼를 한 것이다. 국회와 국민을 무시한 원희룡 장관의 사과부터 받고 현안질의를 시작해야 한다"고 말했다.
이에 원 장관은 "보고도 시작하지 않았는데 사과부터 하라는 건 순서에 맞지 않다"면서 "사과한다면 이 사태를 거짓선동으로 몰고 온 민주당 부터 사과를 해야 한다고 생각한다"고 맞받아쳤다.
또한 민주당 의원들이 지적한 자료 제출 거부 및 고의 누락, 조작 의혹에 대해서도 "국토부 입장을 뒷받침하는 자료들인데 왜 숨기겠나"라며 "15차례 설계 회의 보고서가 없다고 한 것은 보고서 없이 도면만 놓고 구두회의를 했기 때문이고, 폴란드 출장을 다녀오고 메모 자료까지 다 모았다. 우리가 작성하지 않은 용역 회사 자료까지도 동의받아 제출했다. (일부 누락 자료는) 실무자에게 물어보니 자료가 방대해서 단기간 작업할 때 실수한 것 같다"고 설명했다.
원 장관은 '서울-양평 고속도로 사업 백지화를 잘했다고 생각하느냐'는 김병욱 민주당 의원의 질의엔 "불가피한 선택이었다. 최악을 막기 위해 차악을 선택한 것"이라고 했다. 그러면서 "고속도로 추진과 정책 결정은 국토부 장관의 권한"이라며 문제될 게 없다고 덧붙였다.
