경주시에 따르면 시는 폭염에 대비해 지난달 초 상황관리와 대응체계를 구축하고, 이로 인한 시민의 인명과 재산 피해를 최소화하기 위한 종합대책을 추진 중이다.
지난해 경북 지역 연간 평균 폭염 일수는 18.5일, 열대야 일수는 9.8일로 전년보다 높은 수준이다.
이에 시는 폭염 대비를 위해 무더위 쉼터 및 경로당 196곳의 냉방시설을 점검하는 한편 그늘막 138곳(고정형 123개, 스마트 15개)을 운영하고 있다. 냉방기 운영에 따른 예산 5000만원도 별도 편성했다.
이와 함께 경주시는 폭염대비 행동요령 및 온열질환 응급조치 내용이 담긴 부채를 배부할 계획이다. 이를 위해 읍·면·동 시비로 2250만원의 예산을 확보했다.
경주시는 폭염 대책기간인 5월 20일부터 9월 30일까지 비상근무 체계를 유지할 계획이다.
대책기간 폭염특보가 발효되면 자율방재단 등을 포함한 지속적인 순찰활동을 추진할 예정이다.
이밖에도 시는 폭염대비 대책의 일환으로 △강변로 △원화로 △산업로 △태종로 등 4개 노선에 살수차 4대를 운영하고 있다.
이 외에도 폭염정보 전달 및 홍보체계를 구축하고, 전광판과 SNS 등 다양한 매체를 활용해 폭염정보를 알릴 방침이다.
주낙영 경주시장은 “올여름이 평년에 비해 기온이 높을 것으로 예상됨에 따라 폭염 대책을 한층 더 강화해 피해가 없도록 최선을 다해 달라”고 관계 공무원들에게 당부하며 “향후 폭염 종합대책의 결과를 보고하고 개선방안을 마련할 것”도 지시했다.
