브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 북한은 앞서 예고한 24일 군사정찰위성 발사와 관련, 3단계 비행 중 오류로 인해 실패했다고 밝히며 10월 중 3차 발사를 다시 진행할 것이라고 했다.
이날 조선중앙통신 보도에 따르면 북한은 이날 평안북도 철산군 서해위성발사장에서 정찰위성 '만리경-1'호를 신형 위성운반 로케트(로켓) '천리마-1'형에 탑재해 제2차 발사를 단행했다.
1단계와 2단계는 모두 정상비행했지만 3단계 비행 중 비상폭발체계에 오류가 발생해 정상궤도에 진입하지 못했다. 3단계 비행은 위성을 정상궤도에 올려놓기 위한 가장 핵심적인 기술이 필요한 단계다.
다만 지난 1차 발사 때와 같이 발사 후 3시간도 채 되지 않아 실패를 공식 발표한 것은 눈여겨볼 만한 점이다. 북한이 실패를 즉각 발표한 이면에는 위기 역시도 안정적으로 관리하고 통제가 가능하다는 점을 과시하려는 의도가 아니겠냐는 게 전문가들의 해석이다.
조선중앙통신은 "국가우주개발국은 비상폭발체계가 비정상적으로 작동된 원인을 빠른 기간 내에 해명할 것"이라며 "국가우주개발국은 해당 사고의 원인이 계단별 발동기들의 믿음성과 체계상 큰 문제는 아니라고 설명하면서 원인을 철저히 규명하고 대책을 세운 후 오는 10월에 제3차 정찰위성발사를 단행할 것"이라고 전했다.
한편 합동참모본부(합참)는 이날 "북한은 오늘 오전 3시50분경 북한 평안북도 동창리 일대에서 '북 주장 우주발사체'를 남쪽 방향으로 발사했다"면서 "우리 군은 '북 주장 우주발사체' 발사 징후를 사전에 식별해 대비태세를 갖추고 있었고, 발사 즉각 포착해 지속 추적·감시한 결과, (위성 발사는) 실패로 평가한다"고 밝혔다.
