영덕군, 벽산 김도현 선생 도해순국 109주기 추모행사 거행

【브레이크뉴스 영덕】박희경 기자=영덕군은 지난 29일 영해면 대진리 도해단에서 벽산 김도현 선생 도해순국 109주기 추모행사를 거행했다고 30일 밝혔다.

이번 행사엔 김광열 영덕군수, 오도창 영양군수, 손덕수 영덕군의회 의장과 의원들, 김지현 경북남부보훈지청장, 김진국 유족대표, 손치호 김도현 선생 외손, 영덕.영양 유림 등 200여 명이 참석해 나라를 위해 도해순국하신 선생의 희생정신을 기렸다.

이날 제향행사에서 초헌관은 오도창 영양군수, 아헌관은 손덕수 영덕군의회 의장, 종헌관은 손치호 벽산 김도현 선생 외손이 맡았으며, 이어진 추념식은 국민의례, 숭모회장 인사, 추념사, 추모시 낭독 순으로 경건하게 거행됐다.

숭모회 권영종 회장은 “벽산 김도현 선생을 추모하기 위해 행사에 참석해 주신 관내.외 내빈과 유족분들께 진심으로 감사드리며, 매년 행사에 많은 지원과 관심을 가져주신 영덕군수님, 영양군수님, 영덕군의회 의장님과 의원님께 감사드린다”고 밝혔다.

한편, 벽산 김도현 선생은 1895년 8월 명성황후가 시해되고 11월에 단발령이 공포되자 이듬해인 1896년 의병을 일으켜 일본군에 대항하셨다. 이후 1905년 을사늑약에 의해 국권이 침탈당하자 상소를 돌려 조약의 부당함과 무효를 주장하시고 의병을 조직하다 1906년 대구감옥에서 고초를 겪으셨다.

선생은 1907년 의병을 재조직하고, 1909년에는 교육을 통해 나라를 바로 세우고자 영흥학교를 설립해 백성을 일깨우셨다. 하지만 1910년 경술국치로 스승 이만도가 단식으로 순국하자 이때 함께 자결하려 했으나 부친이 생존해 뜻을 미루었고 1914년 동포에게 고하는 시를 남긴 후 영해면 대진리 산수암에서 도해 순국하셨다.

Meanwhile, when Empress Myeongseong was assassinated in August 1895 and the short hair order was announced in November, Byeoksan Kim Do-hyeon raised a volunteer army and fought against the Japanese army in 1896, the following year.
