브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 13일 김정은 북한 국무위원장과 블라디미르 푸틴 러시아 대통령이 러시아 우주기지에서 정상회담을 가졌다고 러시아 관영매체가 일제히 보도했다.
러시아 리아노보스티와 타스통신 등에 따르면 두 정상은 이날 오후 1시 경 러시아 극동 아무르주 보스토치니 우주기지에서 4년5개월만에 만나 손을 맞잡았다.
두 정상은 쇼유스-2 우주 로켓 시설을 시찰한 뒤, 오후 2시30분경 단지 내 기술사무소 1층 회의실에서 정상회담을 시작했다.
푸틴 대통령은 모두 발언에서 "이번 회담은 특별한 시기에 진행된다. 북한은 최근 북한 정권 수립 75주년, 전승절(정전협정일) 70주년, 북러 수교 75주년을 맞았다"라고 의미를 부여한 뒤 "세계 최초로 북한 주권과 독립을 인정한 나라가 바로 우리라는 점을 상기하고 싶다. 김 위원장의 만나 정말 반갑다"고 환대했다.
푸틴 대통령은 이어 "이번 회담은 양국 관계를 새로운 단계로 격상시킬 것으로 확신한다"며 "정치, 경제, 문화 등 발전시킬 과제가 많이 있다"고 강조했다.
이에 김정은 위원장은 "러시아 영토에 도착하자마자 우리 대표단은 따뜻함과 환대를 느꼈다"며 "우주 강국인 러시아의 현재와 미래를 직접 볼 수 있었다"고 우주기지로 초청해준데 대해 감사함을 표했다.
김 위원장은 이어 "현재 북한의 최우선 순위는 러시아와의 관계"라며 "북한은 푸틴 대통령의 모든 결정을 지지한다. 러시아는 자국 안보를 보호하기 위해 신성한 투쟁에 나섰다"고 우크라이나와의 전쟁에 대해 평가하기도 했다.
한편 크렘린궁 대변인에 따르면 양국 정상은 정상회담을 통해 양자 관계 및 협력, 무역·경제 관계, 문화 교류와 관련된 현안을 논의할 예정이라고 밝혔다.
특히 민감한 영역에 대해서도 논의가 오갈 수 있다고 전하면서도 어떤 의제가 오갈지에 대해선 공개할 수 없다고 선을 그었다.
푸틴 대통령은 이날 우주기지 시찰 중 "북한의 위성 개발을 도울 거냐"는 취재진의 질문에 "이곳에 온 이유"라며 긍정적으로 답하기도 했다.
이날 회담은 약 3시간여 동안 진행될 것으로 전해졌으며 회담 이후 공식 만찬을 가질 예정이다.
