브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 중소기업 인력의 장기재직 및 자산형성을 위한 ‘내일채움공제 플러스’이 사실상 폐지 수순을 밟는 것으로 나타났다.
청년재직자 내일채움공제 플러스는 지난해 종료된 내일채움공제의 후속 사업으로, 3년간 청년·기업·정부가 600만원씩 각각 적립하면 만기 때 1800만원에 복리 이자를 포함한 목돈을 청년들에게 지급하는 제도다.
22일 이동주 더불어민주당 의원이 중소벤처기업부로부터 제출받은 자료에 따르면 내년도 본예산에 청년 재직자 내일채움공제 플러스 예산으로 139억5800만원을 반영했다.
이는 올해 예산 198억원에서 신규 가입자를 위한 예산 60억여원을 모두 삭감한 것이다.
사실상 내년에는 신규 가입자를 받지 않겠다는 것으로, 정책을 폐지시키겠다는 의도로 읽혀진다.
내일채움공제 사업은 2018년부터 지난해까지 총 15만7000명이 가입했다. 중기부는 올해 2월 1일부로 바뀐 내일채움공제 플러스 가입자를 연간 1만5000명을 모집하겠다는 목표를 세웠다.
하지만 개편하면서 업종 등 제한이 생기는 등 가입 조건이 까다로워졌고, 그 결과 가입자 수는 급감했다. 지난해의 경우 2만971명이 가입했으나 올해 2월부터 8월까지 누적 가입자는 3413명에 그쳤다.
이에 대해 이동주 의원은 "청년 재직자 내일채움공제 사업은 가입자들의 만족도가 높은 사업"이라며 "중소벤처기업부는 예산 삭감이 아닌 확대를 검토했어야 한다"고 지적했다. 그러면서 "청년들이 중소기업에 근무하면서 많은 혜택을 누릴 수 있도록 정부가 다양한 정책을 고안해내야 할 때"라고 덧붙였다.
