이 사건과 관련, A일보는 지난 3월14일자 보도기사에서 “K교수는 14일 OO라디오 ‘이슈 앤 피플’ 인터뷰에서 피해자 규모를 묻는 진행자의 말에 '평소 정명석이 했던 말이 ‘나는 1만명을 성적 구원을 통해 하늘의 애인으로 만드는 게 지상 목표’였다'라며 '즉 1만명을 성폭행하는 게 목표라고 본인 스스로 얘기를 해 왔고, 제가 그 사람의 행태를 관측해 온 결과로는 그 사람은 오로지 성폭행에 매진했던 사람이기 때문에 그 사람의 목표를 초과 달성하지 않았을까 생각한다'고 밝혔다”고 보도했다. 이 신문은 “K교수는 이어 '지금 나서서 고소하신 분은 백사장에 있는 모래 한 줌이 되지 않을까'라고 말했다.”고 덧붙였다.

필자는 이런 연유로, JMS 정명석 준(準) 강간사건을 '한국판 매카시즘적 사건'이라고 지적하는 것이다. 이 사건이 공론화(公論化)된 지난 3월 이후, 기독교복음선교회는 대규모 장외 시위 등을 통해 “진실이 보도되는 바른 세상”을 외치고 있다.
