브레이크뉴스 문홍철 기자= 현대자동차그룹은 8일 서울시 서초구에 위치한 오픈업센터에서 현대차·기아, 현대모비스, 현대오토에버, 정보통신산업진흥원(NIPA) 관계자들이 참석한 가운데, ‘자동차 제조업 분야 오픈소스 SW 기반 디지털 전환을 위한 업무협약(MOU)’을 체결했다고 밝혔다.
이날 체결식에는 현대차·기아 연구개발기획조정실장 성낙섭 상무, 현대모비스 FTCI(미래기술융합) 담당 천재승 상무, 현대오토에버 기술총괄담당 김지윤 전무, 정보통신산업진흥원 허성욱 원장 등이 참석했다.
이번 MOU는 자동차 분야의 SDV(Software Defined Vehicle) 전환 가속화가 진행되고 있는 상황에서 협력업체에 대한 지원을 통해 소프트웨어 개발 경쟁력을 한층 강화하기 위한 차원이다.
신규 사양을 개발하는 협력업체의 경우, 오픈소스 활용 비중이 낮고, 오픈소스 사용 가능 여부 판별 및 라이선스의 조건과 의무 확인 등을 위한 검증 툴 마련에 많은 시간과 비용을 들이고 있다.
협력사의 이러한 부담을 줄이기 위해 현대차그룹과 정보통신산업진흥원은 공개 SW 활용을 지원하는 상생협력 시스템을 구축한다.
협약에 따라 현대차그룹 4사는 현대차를 비롯한 주요 완성차 업체의 오픈소스 활용 사례 및 분석 데이터를 제공하고, 정보통신산업진흥원은 자동차 분야 오픈소스 정보 분석과 이를 제공하기 위한 서비스 플랫폼을 구축한다.
또한, 민관이 협력해 협력사를 대상으로 오픈소스 컴플라이언스 관리를 위한 라이선스 검증 및 전문 개발자 양성을 위한 교육 프로그램을 지원하고 오픈소스 세미나 등 공동 인식 제고 활동을 펼친다.
현대차그룹은 이번 협약으로 협력사들의 소프트웨어 경쟁력 확보를 지원하고 SDV 체제 전환 가속화에 필요한 소프트웨어 기술력을 내재화한다는 방침이다. 이를 통해 고객에게 차별화된 고객 경험 서비스를 지속 제공할 수 있는 기반을 갖출 수 있을 것으로 기대하고 있다.
현대차·기아 연구개발기획조정실장 성낙섭 상무는 “SDV 시대 선도를 위해 소프트웨어 기술력 확보는 필수적”이라며 “이번 협약으로 협력사들의 오픈소스 소프트웨어의 활용성과 경쟁력을 강화하고 동시에 부품사와의 긴밀한 협력을 통해 확보한 기술력을 바탕으로 고객에게 더 진보된 가치를 제공할 것이다”고 말했다.
한편, 현대차그룹 4사는 오픈소스 소프트웨어 생태계 관리를 위한 차원에서 2020년 5월 정보통신산업진흥원과 협약식을 체결하는 등 협력관계를 꾸준히 이어오고 있다. 그 결과로 2022년에는 오픈소스 컴플라이언스 분야 ISO 국제 표준 인증을 4개사가 동시에 획득했다.
