브레이크뉴스 문홍철 기자= 현대자동차∙기아는 16일 남양기술연구소(경기 화성시 남양읍 소재)에서 경찰청 및 도로교통공단과 ‘미래 모빌리티 시대 대비 데이터 융복합 기반의 교통안전 증진을 위한 업무 협약’을 체결했다고 밝혔다.
이날 협약식에는 경찰청 윤희근 청장을 비롯, 도로교통공단 이주민 이사장, 현대차∙기아 CTO 김용화 사장 등이 참석했다.
협약에 따라 현대차∙기아는 경찰청과 도로교통공단으로부터 전국 주요 지자체에서 관리하고 있는 약 1200여 개 교차로의 실시간 교통 신호 데이터를 공유 받게 된다.
기존 정부 기관이 관리하는 교통 신호 정보를 모빌리티 기업에 공유할 수 있게 된 것은 올해 5월 경찰청에서 교통 안전 향상을 위해 교통 신호 제어 정보를 제공하는 표준을 마련했기 때문이다.
현대차∙기아는 경찰청 및 도로교통공단과 함께 실시간 신호 정보 시스템을 구축하고, 전국 도로 위를 달리고 있는 차량 교통 데이터와 융복합해 원활하고 안전한 도로환경 조성에 기여하기로 했다.
무엇보다 이번 협약은 민관이 상호 협업해 교통 신호 데이터를 공익 목적으로 활용하는 동시에 미래 모빌리티 시대를 위한 첨단 기술 발전을 가속화하는 기반을 갖추게 됐다는 점에서 의미가 있다.
현대차∙기아는 실시간 교통 신호 데이터와 SDV(Software Defined Vehicle) 기술력을 결합, 다양한 고객 편의 서비스와 기술 개발을 통해 고객에게 보다 안전하고 편리한 이동 경험을 제공한다는 계획이다.
우선, 교통 신호 데이터를 차량 내 인포테인먼트 시스템과 연동, 실시간 길 안내에 반영함으로써 고객이 보다 빠르면서도 안전하게 목적지까지 도착할 수 있도록 도울 계획이다.
또한, 운전자가 교통 신호를 보다 쉽게 인지하고, 혼잡한 교통 상황에서 다양한 변수에 대비해 안전한 운행을 지원하는 서비스도 개발할 예정이다.
