브레이크뉴스 문홍철 기자= KCC글라스는 서스틴베스트가 발표하는 ‘2023년 하반기 ESG 평가’에서 최고 등급인 ‘AA’ 등급을 획득했다고 22일 밝혔다.
국내 대표 ESG(환경·사회·지배구조) 평가 및 분석기관인 서스틴베스트는 투자자와 이해관계자들의 이해를 돕고자 매년 기업의 ESG 관리 수준을 종합적으로 평가해 등급을 부여하고 있다. 올해는 유가증권시장 상장사 755개, 코스닥 상장사 310개, 비상장사 205개 등 총 1270개 기업에 대해 평가가 진행됐다.
KCC글라스는 이번 평가에서 지난해에 이어 또다시 AA 등급을 받으며 자산 규모 2조원 이상 기업 중 최고 등급을 받은 9개 기업에 포함됐다.
KCC글라스는 2020년 설립 이후 유엔글로벌콤팩트(UNGC)에 가입하고 탄소정보공개프로젝트(CDP)와 동반성장지수 평가에 참여하는 등 기업의 사회적 책임을 이행하기 위한 노력을 꾸준히 실천해 왔다.
이와 함께 ‘재활용 페트(R-PET)’ 소재 적용 필름인 ‘비센티 퍼니처’와 같은 친환경 제품 개발과 아동복지시설 리모델링 사업인 홈씨씨교실 등의 사회공헌활동도 적극적으로 추진하고 있다.
이러한 노력을 통해 KCC글라스는 이번 서스틴베스트 평가 외에도 올해 한국ESG기준원(KCGS)이 발표한 ESG 평가에서 지난해 최초 평가 이후 2년 만에 통합 A 등급을 획득하기도 했다.
KCC글라스 관계자는 “탄소정보공개프로젝트에 참여해 기후변화 및 물과 관련된 위험 요인 관리체계를 구축하고 협력사와의 상생협력을 위해 동반성장지수 평가에 자발적으로 참여한 점이 좋은 평가를 받은 것 같다”며 “앞으로도 올해 신설한 ESG위원회를 중심으로 ESG 경영을 강화해 환경과 함께하는 기업, 사람을 존중하는 기업, 신뢰받는 기업으로 자리 잡을 수 있도록 노력하겠다”고 말했다.
