브레이크뉴스 문홍철 기자= 국토교통부는 고속·장거리 자율주행 서비스의 상용화 촉진을 위해 최초로 자율주행자동차 유상 화물운송을 허가한다고 16일 밝혔다.
유상 화물운송 허가 평가를 통과한 ㈜라이드플럭스는 올해 6월부터 서울 동남권 물류단지와 롯데택배 진천메가허브터미널을 잇는 112km의 장거리 노선에서 90km/h의 속도로 택배 운송 서비스를 시작할 계획이다.
또한, 연내 전주, 강릉, 대구 등 전국 각지에 자율주행 화물운송 서비스 도입을 추진중이다.
안전을 위해 초기에는 시험운전자가 운전석에 탑승한 상태로 운영하고, 2027년부터 무인 자율주행으로의 단계적 전환을 시작할 예정이다.
국토부 박준형 모빌리티자동차국장은 “드디어 자율주행자동차 유상 화물운송 첫 허가 사례가 나와 올해 자율주행 기술이 화물운송 분야에서의 상용화를 위한 큰 도약을 할 것으로 기대된다”며 “국내 자율주행 기술이 여객운송 뿐만 아니라 화물운송 분야에서도 경쟁력을 가질 수 있도록 적극 지원해 나가겠다”고 말했다.
