브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 18일 국민의힘이 6·3 지방선거 서울시장 후보로 현직인 오세훈 서울시장을 확정했다. 이에 따라 서울시장 선거는 오세훈 시장과 정원오 더불어민주당 후보간 대결구도로 치러질 전망이다.
박덕흠 공천관리위원장은 이날 오전 서울 여의도 중앙당사에서 경선 결과를 발표하며 "오세훈 후보가 국민의힘 서울시장 후보로 결정됐다"고 밝혔다.
이번 후보 선출은 지난 16~17일 진행된 선거인단 투표와 일반 국민 여론조사를 각각 50%씩 반영해 이뤄졌으며 오 시장은 경선에서 박수민 의원과 윤희숙 전 의원을 제치고 최종 후보로 선출됐다.
오 시장은 이날 후보 확정 직후 서울 여의도 중앙당사에서 기자회견을 열고 "서울을 내어주면 이 정권의 폭주를 막을 마지막 제동장치가 사라지고, 대한민국 민주주의는 치명적인 위험에 처할 것"이라고 각오를 다졌다.

한편, 오 시장의 5선 도전이 확정되면서 정원오 민주당 후보와의 경합이 성사됐다.
정원오 후보는 이날 페이스북을 통해 "국민의힘 서울시장 후보로 확정되신 오세훈 시장께 진심으로 축하드린다"며 "서울의 미래를 두고 실력으로 경쟁하자"고 밝혔다.
이어 "이번 선거가 시민의 삶과 서울의 미래를 책임질 ‘실력’을 놓고 정책으로 경쟁하는 공론장이 되기를 바란다. 서울 시민의 품격에 걸맞은 정정당당한 승부를 기대한다"고 덧붙였다.
