한수원, 인도네시아에 혁신형 SMR 도입 키로

한수원은 1일(현지시간) 제28차 UN 기후변화협약 당사국총회(이하 COP28)가 열리고 있는 UAE 두바이 COP28 행사장에서 인도네시아 전력공사 발전자회사인 누산타라 파워(PLN NP)와 인도네시아에 혁신형 SMR 도입 및 건설을 위한 상호협력 양해각서(MOU)를 체결했다고 4일 밝혔다.

양사는 이번 MOU를 통해 인도네시아에 혁신형 SMR 배치를 위한 경제성/기술성 공동 기초 조사, R&D 협력을 통한 현지 특화 기술개발, 실무진 협의체(Working Group) 구성을 통해 다양한 분야에서 협력하게 된다.

PLN NP는 인도네시아 전체 발전용량의 약 28%를 담당하고 있는 대표적인발전 공기업이다. 현재 주력인 화력발전소를 청정 에너지원으로 대체하는 데에 주력하고 있으며, 그 해법으로 원자력 발전으로의 전환을 모색하고 있다.
