금융기관인 서울 강동농협(조합장=박성직)의 베트남 해외연수(12월3일-7일)에 참여했다. 지난 12월 5일. 베트남 다낭(danang)의 마블 산(대리석 산)에 설립된 영응사(靈應寺.신령스러운 영이 응대해주는 절)를 방문했다.
대리석으로 조각된 갖가지 상들이 스스로 자기만의 아름다움을 보탰다. 필자는 이 세상에 배어나서 이 처럼 아름답게 꾸며진 절(사찰)은 처음으로 봤다.

절(사찰) 내부. 대리석 광석 산을 뚫어, 곳곳에 설치한, 불상들이 아름답다. 외부로부터 유입되는 빛이 아름다움을 더해준다. 녹색 이파리를 가진 식물들이 함께 어울린다. 그냥, 입에서 "아름답다"는 말이 튀어나온다.
불교와 대리석의 만남. 끝까지 아름다움을 추적해서 발전시키려는 종교와 예술간 의 합일(合一)이 돋보인다. 좋은 것을 끝까지 좋게 하려는 장인 정신이 오늘의 영응사를 만들어낸 듯 하다. 유추하건데, 이 절은 시간이 흐를수록 더 아름다워질 것이다. 이것이 이 절에 사는 사람들의 생각이니까. moonilsuk@naver.com

-Participated in an overseas training program in Vietnam (December 3-7) by Seoul Gangdong Agricultural Cooperative (President = Park Seong-jik), a financial institution. Last December 5th. I visited Yongungsa Temple (a temple where divine spirits respond) established on Marble Mountain in Danang, Vietnam.
Various statues carved from marble added their own beauty. This is the first time in my entire life that I have seen such a beautifully decorated temple.
Inside the temple. The Buddhist statues carved out of the marble ore mountain and installed here and there are beautiful. The light coming in from outside adds to the beauty. Plants with green leaves fit together. The word “beautiful” just comes out of my mouth.
An encounter between Buddhism and marble. The unity between religion and art, which seeks to pursue and develop beauty until the end, stands out. It seems that the spirit of craftsmanship to make good things better until the end has created Yeongeungsa Temple as it is today. I guess this temple will become more beautiful as time goes by.
