【브레이크뉴스 울진】이우근 기자=한국수력원자력(주) 한울원자력본부(본부장 이세용, 이하 한울본부)는 지난 11일부터 14일까지 관내 4개 초등학교 4, 5학년 학생 396명을 대상으로 ‘2023년도 한울본부 아톰공학교실’을 진행했다고 15일 발혔다.

한울본부에 따르면 아톰공학교실은 한울본부 직원들이 일일교사로 참여해 공학키트를 함께 조립하면서 학생들에게 과학원리를 재미있게 전달하는 체험형 프로그램이다.
지난 2005년부터 매년 시행해온 아톰공학교실은 아이들의 눈높이에 맞춘 수업으로 학생들뿐만 아니라 교사, 학부모로부터 반응이 좋아 매년 운영하고 있다.
올해는 학교별 선호키트를 조사하여 선정된‘스스로 방향을 바꾸는 청소로봇 만들기’를 주제로 진행되었으며, 학생들과 함께 키트를 조립해보면서 일상생활에 적용되는 과학원리를 배우고 응용해보는시간을 가졌다.
일일교사로 참여한 신한울1발전소 박기빈 대리는 “학생들이 공학키트 조립을 통해 진동모터의 작동, 마이크로 스위치를 이용한 센서 작동 등 어려울 수 있는 과학원리를 이해하고 직접 응용까지 하는 모습에 보람을 느꼈다”라고 소감을 밝혔다.
한울본부는 앞으로도 미래인재를 발굴하고 육성하기 위해 아낌없이 노력하고 지원할 계획이다.

Park Ki-bin, assistant manager of Shin Hanul Power Plant 1, who participated as a one-day teacher, said, “It was rewarding to see students understand and directly apply scientific principles that can be difficult, such as the operation of a vibration motor and the operation of a sensor using a micro switch, through assembling an engineering kit.” He expressed his feelings.
Hanul Headquarters plans to continue to make generous efforts and support to discover and nurture future talent.
