브레이크뉴스 정민우 기자= KT는 오는 22일부터 5G/LTE 단말기와 요금제 구분없이 다양한 조합으로 서비스를 이용할 수 있도록 개편한다고 21일 밝혔다.
기존에는 통신사에서 5G 스마트폰 구매 시 5G 요금제로만 개통이 가능하고 LTE 요금제로 변경하려면 LTE 스마트폰으로 유심 기기 변경을 하는 등 별도의 과정이 필요했다.
앞으로는 5G 스마트폰 구매 시 5G 요금제뿐 아니라 LTE 요금제로도 개통이 가능하고 5G/LTE간 요금제 변경도 가능해진다. 또한, LTE 스마트폰 사용자도 5G 요금제를 선택할 수 있다.
이에 따라 LTE 스마트폰에서 5G 초이스 요금제를 통해 넷플릭스, 디즈니 등 OTT 혜택을 누리거나, 만 29세 이하 고객이라면 5G 요금제 이용 시 제공되는 ‘Y덤’ 혜택을 통해 데이터를 2배 받는 것도 가능해진다. 단, 5G 네트워크를 지원하지 않는 LTE 스마트폰은 LTE 속도로 서비스한다.
선택약정(요금할인)을 이용 중이라면 자유롭게 5G/LTE간 요금제를 변경해도 차액정산금(위약금)이 발생하지 않는다. 단말기 지원금은 5G/LTE 요금제 구분없이 월정액 요금이 같다면 동일한 공시지원금이 제공된다.
