시중에, ‘무식한 놈이 편향된 신념을 가지면 사회적 흉기가 된다’라는 말이 오래전부터 떠돌았었다. 영호남 맹신 지지자도 아닌, 전직 구청 공무원에다 다시 공부해서 부동산 자격증을 취득한 테러리스트는 분명 확신범이다. 경제불황과 부동산 매매 급감으로 몇 개월째 자신의 월세 못 내는 처지면 문을 닫고 경비로 전직(轉職)할 일이지, 그 탓을 이재명과 추종 진보세력에게 돌려 수괴(首魁) 죄를 물어 측두경정맥(側頭頸靜脈)을 찌른 것은 가공할 살인음모에서 출발했다. 동맥은 심장에서 뿜어져 나온 혈액이 영양분을 싣고 말초신경까지 분주히 오간다. 정맥은 일 다 한 피가 폐기물과 함께 다시 심장으로 돌아가는 길이다.
동맥은 혈압이 높고(약 120/80mm hg), 정맥은 혈압이 (약 5~10mmg hg)로서 낮다. 다행히 이재명 당 대표가 부산에서 피습 시 정맥이 찔려 일차 응급조치 후 서울대병원까지 지혈할 수 있어 목숨을 건졌다. 피습 시, 만약 동맥이 찔렸더라면 현장에서 20배 강한 압력으로 피가 뿜어져 나와 ‘이차돈의 순교’처럼 과다출혈로 사망이나 뇌 손상이 뒤따랐을 것이다.
여하튼 의사들이 눈에 수술용 현미경을 끼고 정맥 안에 삽관(揷管)하여 잘린 혈관을 당겨 야무지게 잘 꿰매 구사일생한 것은 참으로 다행한 일이다. 아무리 사형수라도 집행 전 복통에 소염제와 진통제를 처방해주는 것이 인륜이요 천륜이다. 아직 혐의자 피의자 신분이지만, 옥석이 가려지지 않은 상황이고, 전 국민의 절반이 지지하는 야당 지도자를 판결 전 증오와 분노 섞인 초법적 여론몰이로 매장하려는 시도들은 멈춰져야 한다.
자상(刺傷) 열상(裂傷) 제왕절개 수술 등 모든 봉합수술은 대부분 2주 내로 치료되어 병원에서 퇴원한다. 이재명 대표가 퇴원한 지 보름이 지났다. 이제 환자 신분이 아닌 거대 야당을 지휘하는 당 대표로서 밥값을 해도 무난한 회복을 했다. 당은 쪼개지고 친명 비명 논란이 일고, 나아가 공천탈락자들이 ‘이낙연-이준석-원칙과 상식’ 연합당에 슬그머니 발을 담그고 ‘비민주적 당 운영 심판론’을 들고 내달려 나갈 태세다. 당은 이미 비겁자 보신주의자들과의 두더지게임에 돌입했다. 여기 누르면 저기 튀어나오니, 진압 당근으론 집권 후 임명직 감투를 기다리란 불확실한 언약뿐이다.
여야 내부의 소동이 점차 그 덩치와 세력을 키워가고 있다. 이준석은 개혁, 이낙연은 DJ(김대중 전 대통령)정신 계승을 내세우며 벌판에 깃발을 꽂았다. ‘기존 정치권 심판’이란 대의명분을 고함치고 있다. 거대 양당에 치명적 상처는 못 입혀도, 경합지 당선자 수십 명을 바꿀 수 있어 대선 전 선거연대란 이름으로 많은 기득권 분할 양보와 정책수정을 요구할 시한폭탄 역할은 충분하다.
오뉴월 모내기 전 개구리들로 잠을 못 이루면, 산에 가 꽃뱀을 몇 마리 논바닥에 풀어놓으면 금세 조용해진다. 세계 각국의 링에서 선발전 혹은 지역 타이틀전으로 시끄러워도 라스베이거스의 세계 타이틀전이 벌어지면 온 동네 조무래기들이 한곳에 모인다. 월남전에서 아들이 보내온 TV를 마루에 얹은 한약방 오 씨 할배는 마당에 멍석을 깔아 오 원씩 시청료를 받고 대문을 야멸차게 잠갔다. 돈이 없는 나와 친구들은 담 넘어 오동나무에 원숭이처럼 올라가 덕지덕지 붙어 그걸 훔쳐보았다. 미얀마와의 축구 김일의 박치기 게임이 끝나면, 다음날 부스스한 눈으로 벌판으로 학교로 흩어지면 그뿐이었다. 이번 총선도 그 이하도 이상도 국민에게 감흥을 주긴 어려울 것이다.
시끄럽기만 하고 눈길 갈 정책 제시 하나 없는 여야 총선 전 상황에 온갖 누명을 쓴 더불어민주당의 이재명 당 대표가 나설 차례다. 국민의힘 원희룡이 한동훈 비대위원장의 손을 잡고 나와 인천 계양을에서 승리한 메뚜기(?)로 터를 잡은 이재명에게 대권 놓고 한판 붙자고 말했다.
지역 소득 수준과 정치적 성향을 놓고 볼 때, 인천 계양을은 이재명 대표에게 오리발 차고 헤엄치는 격‘이리라. 원희룡에겐 자갈밭 위로 다이빙하는 격이니 굳이 마다할 이유가 없다. 승패도 중요하지만, 진보의 아성에서 이재명의 득표율은 바로 수도권 민심에 영향을 미쳐 대권주자로서 자격과 승리 여부를 미리 가늠할 지표로 작용할 것이다.
장수가 어찌 험지(險地)와 쟁합(爭合)지, 혹은 ‘꽂으면 내 땅’의 유불리를 따져 출전한단 말인가? 인천 계양을은 송영길 전 대표가 오래 다져놓은 진보의 아성이다. 여기에서 진다? 사표다! 크게 이긴다? 대권에 한 발 더 앞선 엄청난 파급력과 저력을 얻게 될 것이다!

퇴직한 가장 수백만이 경비 서며 자식 손자 용돈 보태는 기막힌 세상이다. 전 국민의 절반 이상이 제 집이 없어 전세 월세 혹은 주택담보 대출이라는 신세로 산다. 청년들은 결혼을 못하고 산다.
민주당 출마자들은 서민 약자 흉내 내지 말았으면 한다. 원희룡이 얼마나 인천 계양을 주민 삶을 이해하고 공감할까?
이재명 당 대표는 전초전의 정책대결에 나섰으면 한다. 이기면 대권주자로 정진하고, 지면 깨끗이 정계 은퇴하겠다는 배수진을 치는 것도 국민에 대한 예의일 수 있다. samsohun@naver.com

Gyeyang-eul, Incheon, is a progressive stronghold that former representative Song Young-gil has established for a long time. Lose here? It's my resignation! Win big? It's an amazing world where millions of retired people pay for their children's and grandchildren's allowances. More than half of the entire population does not have a home of their own and lives on monthly rent or mortgage loans. Young people live without being able to get married.
Those running for the Democratic Party should not imitate the underdogs of the common people. How much does Won Hee-ryong understand and sympathize with the lives of the residents of Gyeyang, Incheon?
I hope that party leader Lee Jae-myeong will engage in a preliminary policy confrontation. It may also be courteous to the people to say that if he wins, he will work hard as a presidential candidate, and if he loses, he will retire cleanly from politics. samsohun@naver.com
