브레이크뉴스 정민우 기자= KT&G복지재단이 겨울철 난방비로 어려움을 겪는 에너지 취약계층을 위해 총 8억5000만원을 지원한다고 19일 밝혔다.
KT&G복지재단은 올해 한파와 급등한 난방비로 연료비 부담이 가중된 저소득층의 고충을 덜어주기 위해 지난해 연말부터 서울과 수도권 지역의 에너지 취약계층 3400여 세대에 난방비를 지원해 오고 있다. 선정된 수혜자들은 오는 3월까지 세대 당 25만원의 난방비를 지원 받는다.
KT&G복지재단은 에너지 취약계층에 난방 연료와 도시가스비를 매년 지급해오고 있다. 이는 2005년부터 올해까지 20년째 이어오고 있는 취약계층 지원사업 중 하나로, 이번까지 포함해 누적 지원 금액은 약 123억7000만원에 달한다.
KT&G복지재단 관계자는 “최근 전기와 가스료 등 난방비 상승 등으로 생활에 어려움을 겪는 취약계층 이웃들에게 조금이나마 도움이 되었으면 좋겠다”며, “앞으로도 소외계층에 대한 지속적인 관심을 통해 어려운 이웃들에 대한 나눔 활동을 꾸준히 이어갈 것이다”고 말했다.
