[브레이크뉴스=양영석 기자] 글로컬대학30 지정 재도전에 나선 김해시 관계기관들이 지정 의지를 새롭게 했다.
김해시와 인제대, 가야대, 김해대, 김해상공회의소는 22일 김해시청 브리핑룸에서 공동 기자회견을 열고 “2024년 글로컬대학 선정을 위해 다시 한번 모든 역량을 집중하겠다”고 밝혔다.
인제대는 작년 6월 108개 대학 중 15개 예비지정대학에 선정됐으나 11월 최종 선정에서 아쉽게 고배를 마셨다.
시는 최근 인재육성지원과 내 글로컬대학지원팀을 신설해 작년 탈락의 원인을 철저히 분석하고 기존 실행계획의 부족한 점을 보완해 올해는 반드시 지정을 받겠다는 각오를 밝혔다.
시는 △글로컬대학 추진단 운영 △김해인재양성재단 설립 본격화 △All-City Campus 실체적 실현공간인 3대 캠퍼스 조기 운영 △김해전략산업과 연계한 킬러컨텐츠 산업 분야 구성에 전념한다.
홍태용 시장은 “지역과 대학이 공동의 목표 아래 동반 성장할 수 있도록 한 몸처럼 움직여야 하며 대학을 책임지는 도시, 도시를 책임지는 대학인 ‘All-City Campus’가 그 해답으로 글로컬대학 지정을 반드시 성공시키겠다”며 “지자체, 대학, 기업체, 지역혁신기관의 힘을 모아 김해의 지속 가능한 발전을 이끌 ‘All-City Campus’의 혁신성을 증명하겠다”고 강조했다.

교육부는 지난해부터 2026년까지 단계적으로 비수도권 지역에서 약 30개 글로컬대학을 선발해 대학 1곳당 5년간 1,000억원의 예산을 지원한다. 학생 수 감소로 위기에 처한 지방대학은 사활을 걸 수밖에 없다.
교육부는 2월 사업 공고를 내고 3월까지 사업계획서를 받아 4월 예비지정, 8월에 본지정할 계획이다.
