[브레이크뉴스=주윤한 기자] 거창사건희생자유족회는 지난 31일 ‘거창사건 특별법안’을 제21대 국회 임기 내에 반드시 처리해 줄 것을 촉구하기 위해 국회를 방문했다.
이성열 유족회장 등 유족회 임원은 이날 소병철 더불어민주당 법제사법위원회 간사와 정점식 국민의 힘 법제사법위원회 간사, 장동혁 국민의 힘 사무총장 등과 면담을 갖고 거창사건 특별법이 조속히 처리될 수 있도록 지원과 협조를 요청했다.
이성열 유족회장은 “거창사건은 한국 전쟁 중에 전쟁과 관련 없는 719명이 억울하게 희생된 사건이다. 더 늦기 전에 억울하게 희생된 영령들의 한과 73년을 이어온 유족들의 고통을 생각해 제21대 국회 임기 내 거창사건 특별법안이 처리될 수 있도록 해 달라”고 말했다.
거창사건 관련자와 유족에 대한 배상 근거 등을 담은 ‘거창사건 특별법안’은 국회 법제사법위원회 3건, 행정안전위원회 1건으로 총 4건이 계류돼 있다.
지난해 12월 14일 법제사법위원회 법안심사제1소위에 3건의 거창사건 관련자 배상 특별법안이 심사됐지만 통과하지 못하고 아직까지 법안심사소위에 멈춰 있는 상태다.
