브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 이주영 전 국회부의장이 세계도덕재무장(MRA/IC) 신임 총재로 선임됐다.
세계도덕재무장(MRA/IC) 한국본부는 지난달 23일 마포중앙도서관 회의실에서 2024년도 정기총회를 열고 이같이 결정했다.
이 신임 총재의 취임식은 현 차광선 총재의 이임식과 함께 오는 19일 오후 4시 국회 의원회관에서 열린다.
이주영 신임 총재는 경기고 MRA/IC 단원 활동부터 시작해 수십 년간 MRA/IC 운동에 적극 참여해오고 있다. 또한 국회의원 5선 출신으로 해양수산부 장관과 제20대 국회부의장 등을 지냈으며 현재는 국민의힘 국책자문위원장으로 활동하고 있다.
한편, MRA/IC는 1938년 영국에서 시작된 정신적, 도덕적인 인간성 회복운동이다. 정직, 순결, 무사, 사랑의 실천으로 자기 자신의 삶의 변화를 통해 가정, 학교, 사회, 국가를 변화시켜 세계 평화와 인류 번영을 이룩한다는 국제적인 단체로 60여개국에서 활동하고 있다.
현재 국회 MRA/IC의원연대 대표는 이명수 국민의힘 의원이 맡고 있다.
