[브레이크뉴스=양영석 기자] 창녕군은 오는 18일부터 21일까지 4일간, 창녕군 일원 도로에서 2024년 전국 엘리트 사이클대회 시작을 알리는 ‘2024 창녕투어 전국도로사이클대회’를 개최한다고 밝혔다.
이번 대회는 대한자전거연맹이 주최하고 대한자전거연맹과 경상남도자전거연맹이 주관한다.
경남에서 유일하게 개최하는 전국 규모의 자전거대회로 전국 55개 팀, 300여명의 엘리트 선수와 동호인이 참가한다.
경기는 남·여 일반부와 남자 18세이하부, 동호인부로 나누어 진행된다.
18일부터 20일까지는 도천면과 길곡면, 부곡면 일원에서 개인도로 경기가 진행되고 21일에는 부곡온천장 내에서 크리테리움 경기가 펼쳐진다.
특히 대회 첫날인 18일에 진행되는 마스터즈 경기는 전국 자전거 동호인들에게 자전거 타기 좋은 창녕을 알리기 위해 신설된 종목으로 최상위 레벨의 동호인 선수가 참가하는 종목이다.
한편 지난해 실업과 대학의 사이클 총 30팀, 265명이 창녕군에서 전지훈련을 실시했다.
축구와 야구 등 다른 종목까지 포함하면 총 663팀, 11,662명이 전지훈련지로 창녕을 선택해 창녕은 이제 ‘전지훈련의 메카’로 자리 잡았다.
군 관계자는 “2024 창녕투어 전국도로사이클대회를 통해 자전거 타기 좋은 창녕을 알리고 지역 경제를 활성화할 수 있을 것으로 기대하고 있다”며 “내년에는 더 많은 엘리트 선수들과 동호인들이 참여할 수 있도록 적극적인 지원을 다 하겠다"고 밝혔다.
