윤석열 대통령이 19일 정부의 의대 증원에 반발해 전공의들이 집단 사직에 나서는 등 의사들 집단 행동에 대해 "국민 생명·건강을 지키기 위한 대응에 만전을 기해달라"고 말했다고 대통령실이 전했다.
윤 대통령은 이날 용산 대통령실에서 한덕수 국무총리와 가진 주례회동에서 의대 증원 관련 의료계 집단 행동에 이같이 당부했다고 김수경 대통령실 대변인이 오후 서면브리핑에서 전했다.
윤 대통령은 또 민생토론회 논의 현안들 관련해선 "내각에서 신속 추진하라"고 한 총리에게 지시했다.
지난 6일 정부는 보건의료정책 심의 기구인 보건의료정책심의위원회 논의를 거쳐 2025학년도 입시부터 의대 입학 정원을 현재보다 2000명 더 늘어난 5058명으로 결정했다고 밝힌 바 있다.
