울진군, 소나무 재선충병 차단에 선제적 대응

군은 지난 2020년 12월 28일 온정면 덕인리 산308번지에서 소나무재선충병이 신규 발생 되어 3개 읍.면 6개 리가 소나무류 반출금지구역으로 지정됐다.

이후 소나무재선충병 확산 방지를 위해 신속한 감염목 제거뿐 아니라 매년 약100ha 예방나무 주사, 소나무류 이동단속초소 운영, 산림병해충예찰단과 드론을 활용한 병해충 예찰을 통해 재선충병 의심목을 조기 발견하고 제거하는 등 소나무 재선충병 확산 방지에 총력 대응했다.

이러한 노력의 결과로 최초 발생 이후 추가 발생 없어 2023년 11월 소나무 재선충병 청정지역으로 전환되었으며 이와 같은 청정지역 전환 노력으로 2023년 12월에는 한국임업진흥원장으로부터 표창을 받기도 하였다.

하지만 최근 인근 지역인 영덕군 창수면에서 소나무 재선충병이 발생하였고 울진군 경계지(온정면)와 약3km정도 떨어져 있어 온정면, 후포면 중심으로 소나무 재선충병 예방사업과 재선충 의심목 예찰에 집중하고 있다.

울진군은 소나무 재선충병 청정지역 유지를 위하여 온정면 조금리산65번지 일원에 81ha 대상으로 예방 나무주사를 실시할 예정이며, 재선충 의심목 조기발견을 위하여 산림병해충예찰단 운영 및 드론 예찰을 수시로 시행할 계획이다.

손병복 울진군수는“전국 최고의 금강송 군락지가 생육하고 있는 소나무림 보호를 위하여 무엇보다도 병해충 예찰 활동에 힘써 소나무 재선충병 청정지역 유지에 최선을 다하겠다”라고 말했다.
