윤석열 대통령이 22일 "북한이 무모한 도발을 감행한다면 반드시 더 큰 대가를 치르도록 만들 것"이라고 밝혔다.
윤 대통령은 이날 오후 경기 평택 해군 2함대 사령부에서 열린 '제9회 서해수호의 날' 기념식에 참석해 "군은 철통같은 대비태세를 유지하고 어떤 도발에도 즉각·압도적으로 대응해 대한민국 자유 국민 안전을 확고하게 지킬 것"이라며 이같이 말했다.
서해수호의 날은 '제2연평해전' '천안함 피격' '연평도 포격전'으로 희생된 55명의 용사를 기리고 국토수호 의지 고양을 지난 2016년부터 매년 3월 넷째 금요일 정부 기념식으로 추념 행사를 개최해 오고 있다.
윤 대통령은 "우리 바다를 지키기 위해 치열한 전투 끝에 산화하신 55분 해군·해병 용사들 불타는 투혼이 지금도 이곳을 지키고 있다"며 "대한민국 국군통수권자로서 이 모든 분들께 가슴 뜨거운 격려를 보낸다"고 말했다.
