이번 입주 협약식 행사는 비상경제장관회의(2.14)를 통해 발표된 ‘울진·고흥 국가산업단지 예타면제 추진’에 따른 후속 조치로서, 지난해 3월 15일에 지정된 15개 신규 국가산단 후보지 중 지방권에서는 최초로 울진·고흥 국가산단의 예타비타당성 조사 면제를 추진하기 위해 진행됐다.
이날 울진군은 국토부와 경상북도와 함께 원자력수소 국가산단 입주 예정 기업인 GS건설(주), 삼성이앤에이(주), 롯데케미칼(주), GS에너지(주), 효성중공업(주), 비에이치아이(주), 등과 입주협약 체결을 통해 울진 국가산단 예비타당성조사 면제를 위한 기반을 마련했다.
향후 원자력수소 국가산단 조성 사업은 국무회의 의결 및 공공기관 예타면제 확인 등 후속 조치를 신속하게 거쳐 연내에 예비타당성 면제 완료를 목표로 추진되며, 이를 통해 국가산단 착공까지 행정절차 기간을 수개월 단축할 것으로 기대된다.
원자력수소 국가산업단지는 약 152만㎡(약 46만평) 규모로 약 4천억원의 예산이 투입되는 대규모 산업단지로써 울진 국가산단의 조성과 운영에 따라17조원이 넘는 경제효과와 3만 7천명이 넘는 고용유발효과가 발생할 것으로 예상된다.
