윤석열 대통령이 26일 "보건·의료 분야를 안보·치안 등 국가 본질 기능과 같은 반열에 두고 과감한 재정 투자를 하겠다"고 밝혔다고 대통령실이 전했다.
윤 대통령은 이날 오전 용산 대통령실에서 주재한 제14회 국무회의에서 '2025 예산안 편성 지침'을 보고받은 후 이같이 말했다고 이도운 대통령실 홍보수석이 오후 서면브리핑에서 전했다.
최상목 경제부총리 겸 기획재정부 장관이 이날 '2025 예산안 편성 지침'엔 필수 의료 지원이 처음 재정투자 중점 분야에 포함됐다.
윤 대통령은 "정부·의료계가 하루빨리 머리를 맞대고 협의해야 보건·의료 분야 재정 지출 우선순위를 정하고 내년 예산 편성도 가능할 것"이라고 말했다.
또 이날 오후 충북 청주 한국병원을 찾아 의료진과 간담회를 갖고 "보건·의료 분야 예산 규모가 정해져야 불요불급한 지출을 조정하면서 지역의료 인프라 확충·필수 의료 보상 강화·R&D 사업 등 규모를 정할 수 있을 것"이라며 "그래야 국민 생명·안전도 지킬 수 있을 것"이라고 말했다.
