거창군은 지난해 5월 12일부터 거창군 직영 운영 체제로 전환해 ‘운영 정상화’라는 목표로 총력을 기울였다.
그 결과, 지난해 7월 입원환자 80명대, 9월 90명대, 11월 100명을 달성한 후 지속적으로 유지해오다 3월 현재 입원환자 110명을 초과 달성했으며 직영초 대비 △입원환자수는 67명→110명으로 43명이 증가 △병상가동률은 53%→87%로 34%가 대폭 증가했다.
군은 직영 초 4개분야 11개 세부 항목을 정하고 병원 정상화를 위해 지속적으로 운영해 왔다.
특히 보건소 공공의약담당에서 업무를 총괄하고 직원 3명이 병원 내 상주하며 병원 운영 전반에 대한 점검과 검토를 통해 그 간 병원 운영의 문제점과 불필요한 지출을 파악하고 운영 적자해소를 위해 노력했다.
노후화 된 시설 수리 13건과 장비 교체100건, 필요 인력 22명 채용 등 병원 의료서비스 개선과 이미지 향상을 위해 과감한 투자를 했고 환자 돌봄·맞춤형 의료서비스 제공·치매환자 특화 프로그램 운영, 입원환자 보호자 대상 설문조사 실시 등 직영의 이점을 살려 차별화 된 의료서비스를 제공했다.
