[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 더불어민주당 전재수 부산시장 후보가 최근 불거진 가덕도신공항 개항 연기 논란과 관련해 박형준 부산시장의 행정을 무능과 무책임으로 규정하며 정면 비판했다.
전 후보는 20일 자신의 SNS를 통해 "박형준 시장은 도대체 무엇을 했습니까?"라며 "자신의 무능을 감추기 위해 '남 탓'으로 일관하고 있다. 무능을 넘어 참으로 무책임하다. 시민의 눈과 귀를 가린다고 해서 무능함이 사라지지는 않는다."라고 직격했다.
전 후보는 2035년 개항이라는 결과의 씨앗을 뿌린 당사자로 윤석열 정부와 박형준 시장을 지목했다. 그는 문재인 정부가 임기 말까지 조기 개항을 위한 동력을 유지했던 반면, 박 시장은 자신의 정치적 성과를 위해 검증되지 않은 부유식 공법을 내세우며 오히려 혼란을 키웠다고 지적했다. 결국 현재 추진되는 방식이 민주당이 과거부터 주장해 온 현실적 방안으로 돌아왔다는 점을 꼬집었다.
가덕도신공항 건설 사업이 표류하게 된 결정적 계기로는 2025년 5월 발생한 현대건설 컨소시엄의 수의계약 최종 파기 사태를 꼽았다. 전 후보는 공사 시작을 불과 40일 앞두고 계약이 파기될 때까지 박 시장이 도대체 무엇을 했느냐고 강력히 따져 물었다. 특별법 통과 후 3년이라는 귀중한 시간을 허비하며 사업자조차 확정하지 못한 결과가 지금의 위기를 초래했다는 주장이다.
또한 부산 엑스포 유치 실패가 조기 개항의 명분을 스스로 지워버린 결정적 사건이라고 비판했다. 전 후보는 29표라는 참담한 성적으로 엑스포 유치에 참패하며 2029년 개항의 가장 강력한 동력을 상실해 놓고 이제 와서 남 탓을 하는 것은 앞뒤가 맞지 않는 처사라고 비난했다.
전 후보는 이재명 정부의 2035년 개항 발표를 무능한 행정으로 멈춰버린 국책사업을 정상 궤도로 올리기 위한 책임 있는 결단이라고 평가했다. 그는 시장이라는 자리가 남을 탓하는 곳이 아니라 책임지는 자리임을 강조하며 말만 앞세운 무능한 시정으로 부산 시민들을 기만하지 말라고 경고했다.

The Democratic Party mayoral candidate slams Mayor Park Heong-joon's administration as "irresponsible" over the postponement of the new airport’s opening.
Jun Jae-soo, the Democratic Party of Korea's candidate for Mayor of Busan, issued a sharp rebuke of Mayor Park Heong-joon’s administration regarding the recent controversy over the delayed opening of Gadeokdo Island New Airport. Jun defined Park’s leadership as a combination of incompetence and irresponsibility.
In a social media post on the 20th, Jun directly challenged the incumbent, asking, "What exactly has Mayor Park Heong-joon been doing?" He continued his critique by stating, "The Mayor is consistently blaming others to hide his own failings. This goes beyond mere incompetence; it is truly irresponsible. You cannot make your lack of capability disappear just by shielding the eyes and ears of the citizens."
Candidate Jun identified the Yoon Suk-yeol administration and Mayor Park as the ones who planted the seeds for the delayed 2035 opening. He pointed out that while the Moon Jae-in administration maintained momentum for an early opening until the end of its term, Mayor Park fueled confusion by pushing for unverified floating construction methods to prioritize his own political achievements. Jun noted that the project has ultimately returned to the realistic construction methods and approaches that the Democratic Party had advocated for long ago.
Jun cited the final collapse of the private contract with the Hyundai Engineering & Construction consortium in May 2025 as the decisive factor in the project's drift. He demanded to know what Mayor Park was doing until the contract was terminated just 40 days before the scheduled start of construction. Jun argued that the current crisis is the result of wasting three precious years after the passing of the Gadeokdo Special Act without even securing a contractor.
Furthermore, Jun criticized the failure to secure the World Expo as the moment the justification for a 2029 opening was erased. He slammed the administration for losing the strongest driver for an early opening after the disastrous 29-vote defeat in the Expo bid, questioning how the Mayor could shift blame now after losing both credibility and practical benefits.
Jun defended the Lee Jae-myung administration's announcement of a 2035 opening as a "responsible decision" intended to put the national project back on a viable track after it had stalled due to the Yoon administration's and Mayor Park's administrative failures. Emphasizing that the mayoralty is a position of accountability, not finger-pointing, Jun warned Park to stop misleading Busan citizens with empty rhetoric. He concluded by stating that the people of Busan will no longer tolerate outdated politics that shift the blame for incompetence onto others.
