[브레이크뉴스=주윤한 기자] 거창군이 올해 1월부터 애그테크를 활용한 자치단체 최대 규모의 컨테이너형 수직농장을 설치, 시범 운영하고 있다.
최근 농업 환경은 고령화에 따른 노동력 부족과 함께 기후변화 위기로 어려움이 가중되고 있다.
기상청의 기후변화 분석 보고서에 따르면 여름은 20일 더 길어졌고 겨울은 22일 짧아진 것으로 나타났다.
이러한 문제의 해소방안으로 첨단기술을 농업분야에 접목시킨 애그테크에 대한 관심이 높아지고 있다.
'농업'을 뜻하는 '애그리컬처'와 '기술'을 의미하는 '테크놀로지'의 합성어로 농업의 모든 과정에 인공지능, 사물인터넷,빅데이터, 드론, 로봇 등 첨단 기술을 적용한 것을 뜻한다.
수직으로 층을 쌓는 방식인 수직농장은 외부환경에 영향을 크게 받지 않고 인공적인환경제어를 통해 일정한 품질과 규격의 농산물을 연중 생산할 수 있다는 장점이 있다.
거창군 농업기술센터 실증시험포에 설치된 컨테이너형 실내 수직농장은 2022년 지방소멸대응기금사업, 경남도 뉴딜사업으로 추진되어 현재 약 126㎡ 규모로 유러피언 상추4종을 시범재배중이며 연간 최대 13회, 5톤 생산이 가능하다.
또한, 미래농업복합교육관 1층 휴게공간에 스마트 작물재배기를 설치해, 방문객을 대상으로 실내 수직농장에 대한 이해를 돕고 홍보를 하고 있다.

수직농장을 방문한 구인모 거창군수는 “일반농업과 비교해 물소비량과 탄소배출량이훨씬 적고 단위면적당 생산성이 아주 높아 젊은 청년농들이 쉽게 재배할 수 있는 환경이다”며 “스마트팜에 관심 있는 지역청년들과 거창으로 귀농, 귀촌해 첫 농사를 하려는 분들이 도움을 받을 수 있도록 노력하겠다”고 말했다.
거창군에서는 2020년부터 실증시험포에 스마트팜을 조성해 딸기, 아열대과수를 시범재배 하고 있다.
