[브레이크뉴스=주윤한 기자] 새남해농협은 28일 새남해농협 공판장에서 남해군의 주요 소득작목인 ‘땅두릅’ 출하를 알리는 초매식을 개최했다.
이날 초매식에는 농협 관계자들을 비롯해, 땅두릅작목회 정선표 회장과 작목반원들이 참석한 가운데 열렸다.
현재, 남해군의 땅두릅은 722호 농가가 재배하고 있으며 연간 205톤을 생산해 약 13억원의 출하실적을 올리고 있다.
땅두릅은 한약 재료로 이용되는 ‘독활’이라는 약용작물의 새순이다.
대표적인 봄철 새순 산채류다.
흔히 ‘나무두릅’이라고 불리는 ‘참두릅’과 모양이 비슷해 ‘땅두릅’이라는 이름을 얻었다.
참두릅에 비해 순이 여리고 향이 진해 봄철 입맛을 살리는데 제격이며 간 건강, 항염증 작용, 항균 작용, 면역력 증진, 혈관 건강, 통증 완화, 당뇨병 치료 등에 효능이 있는 것으로 알려져 있다.
농업기술센터 민성식 소장은 “땅두릅 소득화에 힘써 주시고 본 초매식 행사를 준비해주신 새남해농협 류성식 조합장님을 비롯한 직원분들께 감사드린다”며 “땅두릅이 보물섬 남해의 새로운 소득작목으로 자리 잡는 데는 땅두릅 작목회 농업인 여러분들의 노력이 매우 컸다”고 전했다.
한편 올해 남해군에서는 매년 새남해농협과 함께 농업인들에게 땅두릅 출하 포장박스 10만매를 지원한다.
