윤석열 대통령이 29일 일일 특별강사 자격으로 초등학교 늘봄학교 현장을 찾아 재능 기부 약속을 지켰다고 대통령실이 전했다.
윤 대통령은 이날 오후 경기 화성시 아인초등학교를 방문해 늘봄학교 초등 1학년 어린이들과 누리호 발사 영상을 함께 시청하고 우주·로켓을 주제로 한 그림책도 읽어줬다.
또 아이들과 함께 누리호 로켓 모형을 날려보며 로켓 추진 원리를 설명한 한편 교장·교사·늘봄 강사 등으로부터 지난 4주간 운영 경험을 들은 후 늘봄학교 안착 관련 의견을 교환했다.
아인초등학교 관계자들은 "늘봄학교를 통해 아이들이 체육·문화·예술 등 다양한 분야 질 높은 프로그램을 접할 수 있어 새로운 배움의 장이 열렸고, 늘봄 전담인력·강사는 늘봄학교 도입으로 활동 영역이 넓어져 일자리 등 기회가 많아졌다"고 전했다.
아인초등학교는 늘봄학교를 희망하는 초등학교 1학년 대상으로 학교적응·놀이 중심 창의·과학·예·체능 프로그램 등을 매일 2시간씩 무료 제공 중이다.
윤 대통령은 "신도시에 있는 아인초등학교는 학생·학급이 많아 공간이 넉넉치 않은데도 학교 내부 공간을 잘 활용해 다양한 늘봄 프로그램을 운영하고 있다"며 "아이들을 위해 애써주고 계신 선생님·학교 관계자들께 감사하다"고 전했다.
더불어 "늘봄학교 중심 국가 돌봄 체계가 확립되면 아이들이 마음껏 놀고 공부하며 상상력·창의력을 키우고 건강하게 성장케 될 것"이라며 "정부는 대한민국 미래를 바꿀 핵심 정책 늘봄학교를 빨리 안착시키고 확대하는 데 최선을 다하겠다"고 덧붙였다.
앞서 지난 2월 윤 대통령은 경기 하남시 신우초등학교에서 학부모·교사 등과 민생 토론회를 주재하고 늘봄학교 재능 기부를 통해 국가 돌봄 체계를 안착시키겠다고 밝힌 바 있다.
늘봄학교는 초등 방과 후 학교·돌봄교실을 통합·개선한 것으로 이번 달부터 1학년 대상으로 시작해 오는 2026년 전 학년으로 확대될 계획이다.
